The 12th Kontinental Hockey League 2020 All-Star Game will take place on January 19. For the third time, Moscow has been entrusted with the right to host such an event. The stellar weekend will stretch for two days, on January 18, a Master Show will be held on the VTB Arena ice, and the next day, teams from four divisions will reveal the strongest in a shortened hockey tournament. The Master Show is scheduled to start at 18:00 Moscow time, and the All-Star Game will be played the next day and will begin at 16:00.

Format
For the fourth year now, the stellar weekend of the best hockey players in the KHL has been held in an updated format, including a Saturday master show and a Sunday hockey tournament with the participation of four teams representing their divisions. The master show will traditionally delight hockey fans with a variety of competitions, of which, according to preliminary data, six are planned this year:
- Circle for speed – the record in this competition belongs to Enver Lisin, now playing for the Chelyabinsk Tractor. In 2017, in Ufa, Lisin covered this distance in a record 12.45. Last year, Dmitry Kagarlitsky won the victory, at that time he was still a player in the capital Dynamo. Kagarlitsky's result – 13.02. This year, neither Lisin nor Kagarlitsky will be on the show, which means that other hockey players will get a chance to excel
- Goalkeeping competition – the goal of the goalkeeper in this competition is to reflect consistently as many shootouts as possible. Last year's winner – Igor Bobkov (6 reflected shots) and this season will take part in the tournament, as a year ago, representing the team of the Chernyshev division.
- Hockey Mastery Relay – includes several mini-stages, which can be completed only as the previous one is completed. Here, last season, the team of the Chernyshev division celebrated the victory, which, in addition to the sports component, delighted the audience with a creative approach to the external design.
- Throw Power – Each competitor receives two shot attempts at goal for strength. The record of this competition – 183.7 km / h is dated already distant 2012 and belongs to Alexander Ryazantsev. Last year, the most powerful click was with the representative of the Tarasov division – Alexander Yelesin. The defender of the Yaroslavl Lokomotiv in the best of his attempts showed a result of 164.2, which is significantly below the record.
- Shot Accuracy – in this competition, you must knock out all the targets located in the hockey goal as quickly as possible. Last year, Sergey Shirokov, who represented Chernyshev's division, coped with this best of all. His victory time is 17.1 s.
- Hockey biathlon is a combined stage in which, in addition to quickly passing the distance, accuracy is also required from the participants. For each miss, the participant receives a penalty loop.
On Sunday, 4 teams representing their divisions will continue to identify the strongest, this time in the form of a hockey tournament. The tournament will be held according to the Olympic system, where the teams will play semifinal matches, after which the losers will play a match for third place, and the winners of the semifinals will determine the strongest in the final game. According to the tournament regulations, the duration of the match is 20 minutes (2 periods of 10 minutes each), the number of players on the ice is five on each side (4 field + one goalkeeper). In the event of a tie, the teams immediately, without overtime, go to the shoot-out series.

According to the existing tradition, the composition of the teams was determined as follows:
- fan voting (goalkeeper + defender + striker)
- media choice (goalkeeper + defender + striker)
- KHL sports department (4 hockey players for each team)
- according to the results of the JHL Challenge Cup, one young player for each team

Kharlamov division
Goalkeepers: Bilyalov (Ak Bars), Kovarzh (Avtomobilist). Defenders: Beilen (Traktor), Yokipakka (Siberia), Henkel (Ak Bars). Forwards: Dawes (Avtomobilist), Rasmussen (Metallurg), Zaripov (Ak Bars), Poryadkin (Neftekhimik), Sedlak (Traktor). Ak Bars' mentor Dmitry Kvartalnov was chosen as the team's coach.
Division Bobrov
Goalkeepers: Gudachek (Spartak), Bocharov (Dynamo Moscow). Defenders: Hietanen (Dynamo Moscow), Lehtonen (Jokerit), Rylov (Spartak). Forwards: Shipachev, Yashkin (both Dynamo Moscow), Darzins (Dynamo Riga), Tkachev (SKA), Morozov (Severstal). Head coach – Alexey Kudashev (SKA).
Tarasov division

Chernyshev Division

According to the draw, on January 19, representatives of the Chernyshev division and the Kharlamov division will be the first to go out on the ice. The teams met twice in the KHL All-Star Game format and both games remained behind Chernyshev's division – 5: 3 and 4: 3. The second semi-final pair was made by the teams of the Bobrov and Tarasov divisions. Here, in full-time rivalry, so far, each team has one victory: the team of the Tarasov division won 6: 2, to which Bobrov's team responded with a victory with a score of 4: 3.
